FAQ About Hair Removal with Laser Hair Removal / Super Hair removal

How does Super Hair Removal remove hair?

1) Before Treatment:

Parameters are set to ensure effective hair removal and skin safety.

2) During Treatment:

The laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair and heats the hair follicle. The resulting heat damages each follicle.

3) After Treatment:

Damaged hairs are eliminated with excellent long-term results.

Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential of the follicle. All without damaging the surrounding tissue!

What happens during a treatment?

You will be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. Next, a cold gel (similar to ultrasound gel) will be spread over the treatment area. The Super Hair Removal hand-piece is then applied to your skin and pulses of light begin disabling your unwanted hair. When the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated area falls out over the next week or two.

What does the treatment feel like?

The treatment is almost pain free, for some it is completely pain free and it does not need to be uncomfortable to be affective. No local anesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment well. The strength of the laser can be adjusted if it is uncomfortable.

Can all hair be treated?

Super Hair Removal's unique design offers you customised treatment according to your hair colour, texture and body location. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, red and even blond) can be treated effectively.

Super Hair Removal is the first photoepilation procedure proven to effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types, including dark skinned individuals such as those of Black, Hispanic and Asian decent.

Are there any possible side effects?

Side effects are rare. You may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. On rare occasions, some blistering or bruising may occur, but typically resolves quickly. Also, the skin can become darker or lighter following treatment, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimise the risk of complications.

Following the treatment, you can generally return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.

What kind of results should I expect?

Super Hair Removal technology has been proven to create a permanent reduction in the number of re-growing hairs following each treatment in most skin types. The number of treatments required depends on several factors related to your specific kind of hair and skin. A customised treatment programme will be designed for you along with an estimate of how many treatments you may need in order to meet your expectations.

Every individual will see different results and there are some factors that can affect these results such as PCOS, hormones, medication and following aftercare advice. This will all be discussed with you before your treatment.  Some people may require the occasional top-up session.

How long will the treatment take?

Times very for one session depending on the area being treated.

A typical upper lip treatment takes about 10 minutes and half a leg around 60minutes. Large numbers of hairs can be treated in a flash speeding up the process.
